SCUBA-2: Technology in the Service of Astronomy

The SCUBA-2 project team is developing a wide-field
camera for sub-mm astronomy. The instrument is ambitious both
in its astronomy goals and technically. The presentation will
cover the instrument and detector development, as well as looking
at the astronomical benefits and the context of the instrument
with new facilities, such as ALMA.
